Oil prices rose to $95.68 a barrel as concerns over supply disruption intensified after the U.S. and Iran exchanged strikes overnight. The U.S. said it had launched a series of airstrikes against targets in Iran overnight, prompting a response from Tehran, in the most serious escalation of the conflict between the two countries in weeks. The U.S. military's Central Command said it struck Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps air defences, radar systems, maritime assets, mine-laying capabilities and communications sites on September 1. Iran responded by striking what it said were U.S. assets in Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait and Iraq, and said its aim was now to drive U.S. forces out of the vast network of military bases they have maintained for decades across the Middle East. #iran #middleeast #usa #oil #news
