The sunflower sea star can grow 24 arms and measure up to a meter across 🤯 It’s a critically endangered keystone species that helps keep sea urchin populations in check, protecting kelp forest habitats. But in 2013, a devastating disease wiped out 99% of its population. As part of the 2026 class of the Species Reintroduction Fund, we’re supporting the Snuneymuxw First Nation of British Columbia as they work to breed and reintroduce this amazing species.
