Apple has long been praised as the leader in industrial design. However, long before Apple became a design icon, German designer Dieter Rams had already established many principles that shaped modern consumer technology. As head of design at Braun, Rams developed a minimalist design approach focusing on simplicity, functionality, and his well-known philosophy, “Less, but better.” Years later, Apple’s chief designer, Jony Ive, openly acknowledged Rams as a major influence. The similarities between numerous Braun and Apple products are still evident.
