teaspoon salt Β½ cup packed brown sugar Β½ cup granulated sugar 2 Tablespoons salted butter, melted 1 large egg, room temperature 1 Β½ teaspoons vanilla extract Β½ cup Carnation Evaporated Milk For the spiced donut coating 6 Tablespoons salted butter, melted 1 cup granulated sugar ΒΎ teaspoon cinnamon ΒΎ teaspoon apple pie spice (if you cannot find apple pie spice, double the amount of cinnamon and add a pinch of nutmeg if desired) How to make baked apple cider donuts 1. Pour the apple cider into a saucepan with a cinnamon stick. Place over medium heat and bring to a simmer. Simmer until it reduces to Β½ cup. Pour into a measuring cup (straining if necessary to remove any pieces of the cinnamon stick that may have broken off during the simmering process) until it reduces down to Β½ cup. If you are a smidge short, just top it off with fresh apple cider if necessary. Allow this to cool for at least 10 minutes. 2. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and grease donut pans with nonstick spray. Set aside. 3. In a large bowl, add flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, apple pie spice, and salt. Whisk until all of the dry ingredients are incorporated. Set aside. 4. In a medium bowl, add sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, egg, Carnation Evaporated Milk, vanilla, and cooled cinnamon apple cider. Whisk until nice and smooth. Pour into the dry ingredients and whisk until smooth. 5. To make the filling process easier, fill a gallon ziplock bag with the batter and trim the corner. Working in batches if necessary, fill the cavities of the donut pan halfway with the batter. Bake for 10-11 minutes until the edges and tops are lightly browned. If the donut springs back when lightly touched, theyβre done. Cool the donuts in the pan for a few minutes, then remove from the pan and place onto a cooling rack. 6. Prepare the topping. In a medium bowl, whisk sugar, cinnamon, and apple pie spice until evenly distributed. Lightly dip each side of the donut into melted butter, then generously coat with the spiced sugar mixture. Repeat with the remaining donuts. Enjoy! *These donuts are best served the same day, but will keep in an airtight container at room temperature for 2 days. If your home is humid, we suggest keeping the donuts in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Remove donuts from the fridge and warm donuts gently in the microwave and enjoy!
