When I was 26, I spent $50,000 opening a store for my new business at the time @faytlabel with zero experience and not a clue in the world. I googled everything and spent 6 months DIY’ing the place and when it came to our opening day, I told myself it would fail after a few months because surely everyone would just come check out the store once and that would be it, right? I did everything wrong, had no structure, scattered stock that I pulled from our online shelves and even random opening hours to begin with! But I dedicated myself to the store and worked every single day on the shop floor myself and low and behold, it worked. It didn’t close down after the first few months - infact, it got busier! 2019 me had no idea that I’d go on to have 5 stores by 2025, not just in my home town but all down the east coast of the country! QLD, NSW & VIC! And it turns out, despite having no idea when I started, I’d actually become pretty good at this whole retail store thing! Moral of the story? You don’t have to have it ‘all together’ before starting something. Sometimes it’s best to just start and figure it all out on the way.
