A skeleton found in a doctor’s home. A decades-old medical catalog. And a mystery that finally came together. When a doctor passed away, his descendents discovered a skeleton in the house and eventually brought it to the Bone Museum. But where did it come from? We wanted to know if this skeleton dated back to the era of the American bone trade, so we started digging. Then we found it: a Clay-Adams medical catalog from the 1940s featuring a skeleton that matched ours almost exactly. The final piece fell into place when we learned the doctor attended medical school in New York during the 1940s. The catalog, the skeleton, and the doctor’s history all pointed to the same place and time. Sometimes, uncovering a specimen's history means following the clues until the bones reveal their origin.#learnontiktok #bonetok #edutok #learnontiktokcontest
