Not every camera lens is compatible with a teleconverter, but high-end super-telephoto lenses like the Canon RF 100-300 are. In this example I'm using a 1.4x to boost my focal length for more reach. The downside is that it does ever so slightly reduce clarity (more optical elements for light to pass through) AND it multiplies your aperture which can make it more challenging to shoot in low-light scenarios.
