The trick isn't avoiding failure. It's failing fast enough to learn from it. When I create a new magic trick, I expect it to fail. I try it. I change it. I try it again. Sometimes you have to do that 500 times before it works in front of thousands of people. I love the same principle Marc Randolph used at Netflix: don't spend a year building something before finding out if anyone wants it. Test it quickly. Learn from it. Then decide whether it's worth doubling down on. I think a lot of us would get further if we stopped trying to make things perfect before we even know if they work.
