Day 5: I gave myself 30 days to go from shooting 95 to passing my PGA playing exam. Day 5 was a scramble with William, a scratch golfer, to steal whatever separates him from me. Ten minutes late to my own tee time, no driver, William on rental clubs. Still two under through nine. Then we got greedy and chased 65. Three bogeys in a row in the heaviest rain I have ever played in. Finished 69, three under. The real gap: it is not the swing. He knows what the ball will do before he hits it.
