Before my father died I asked him what's left that he wanted to do, what was on his bucket list. & he said "I did it all." I asked where was left that he wanted to go, there had to be something. He said "I've already been everywhere I've ever wanted to go." My father never made more than $30k in a year, but he was richer than anyone I've ever met. I quit my sottware engineering job at Meta the day he died. Went from making ~$300k/yr to almost nothing overnight, but I knew the way I was living, I wouldn't be able to look at my son & tell him the same thing my dad could tell me on his way out... We're an ocean family, my dad was a marine biologist, shark diver, scuba instructor-he lived underwater. I had his spirit, and I was raised on his hip, but was living my adult life behind a desk. As a child I always talked to him about how one day l'd get a tuna w/ a spear. It was this distant dream, nobody ever knew had done it. To me it was the biggest feat you could get underwater. It represented so many things going right. The ultimate adventure. Since he passed I've been in the water the way I used to be every day growing up. I tapped back into a life I actually love where I kick the sheets off me in the morning, & 2 years later, the moment before shooting this video, we got our tuna. Shoutout pop I know you're grinning ear to ear.
