Wetland habitats that migratory shorebirds rely on are disappearing. In Texas, private landowners are trying to fill the gap. By working with farmers and water providers to flood rice fields during migration, conservation partners like the Galveston Bay Foundation can provide habitat for thousands of shorebirds and wading birds. Fields that would sit unused for the season are instead vibrant oases, full of thousands of birds. They’ll be able to rest and refuel and continue their enormous journeys from South America to the Boreal and beyond! Tap the link in our bio to watch the full video with Audubon Texas.
