I wrote this book because of what didn’t happen to me. I’ve always wondered when the good times would start, when life would get interesting and worth writing about. I’m still naive enough to think those days are on their way. But in the meantime, I wrote these stories. I like to call them, “memories that never happened.” See, I’ve always wanted late conversations at Waffle Houses with people who could catch your drift, feel what you feel and not judge you for your vain melancholy. Or to have the courage to make unhinged choices I’d regret but laugh about. The sad truth is many of those good-old-days windows close and all you can do is romanticize about whatever happened to you. Why wasn’t I braver? Who knows. But the advantage of hindsight is it’s played in 140p, and the lack of clarity can make for freshly squeezed creative juice. Sure, much of this book is what never happened, but much of it did. Maybe not in the same order or in the same way, but they happened whether they happened or not. In any case, I hope you love it or hate it—but I pray you don’t feel ambivalent. Whatever you do, not that. Anyway, link in bio. THE END. #booktok #writer #shortstory #author
