My final read is that both brands will be fine. Mainly bc the only reason it was pulled down was bc of the backlash. (Unfortunately) The learning here is risking your current equity for new younger, demographics who use an element of outrageousness to fuel an identity of unchecked arrogance. Good lesson around cultural fluency, the state (and polarization) of fragmented cultures today - what is absurd to me or you is actually the very language that fuels another culture.
