June 12, 2026 : TO ENDURE Artist studio research 👩🔬: This week, I have been exploring the visual nature of Chinese characters and the way meaning is embedded within their form. I am particularly interested in how characters can function as both language and image. As part of this exploration, I have been experimenting with creating my own characters in the form of faces, using the Chinese character Ren (忍), which symbolises endurance and perseverance. By repeating and reconfiguring the words “To Endure” “Heart” “Knife”, I am investigating how emotion, identity, and meaning can emerge through the reconfiguration of the words. Alongside this research, I made my own rice glue for preparing canvases, deepening my connection to material processes and traditional methods of making. I have also fallen in love with the work of Ruth Asawa, whose practice demonstrates how repetition can transform simple gestures into something intricate and beautiful. Repetition has always been central to my work. I am drawn to the way repeated lines, forms, and actions slowly accumulate, creating complexity, rhythm, and beauty over time. #Artistresearch #artstudıo #artasmrvideo
